What actor/actress do you think has truley shown their range? Meaning they have stretched themselves from horror/thriller to action to comedy to drama? An example would be Tom Hanks and his acting in Big and Philadelphia….In my opinion a great range of acting ability. Any Suggestions?? Actor/Actresses and the movie please.
Brad Pitt. He plays the role of a pscho killer to a T in "Kalifornia". He was in the comedy "The Favor" and he’s played a vampire in "Interview with a vampire", a stoner in "True Romance", a heart-throb in "Legends of the Fall" and "Thelma and Louise". Then there’s "Fight Club", "Seven", and "A River Runs Through It". All of which are different types of roles.
I agree with poster who mentioned Sandra Bullock. Love her. Also Michelle Pfeiffer has done everything from comedy to horror. Loved "What Lies Beneath".
theres a couple johnc reilly is a talented dramatic actor but also can act and ad lib alongside will ferrell in the most out there comedies. eric bana started out as a stand up comedian/ sketch comic but is most known for his dramatic roles. bryan cranston who was hilarious in seinfeld malcolm in the middle and the us version of thank god your here has just won back to back emmys for breaking bad in which he plays a cancer riddled scxhool teacher who has turned to making and selling drugs to support his family. as far as actors go id probably say anne hathaway

V Floyd forgot Brad Pitt’s whacked-out performance in 12 Monkeys. Reese Witherspoon played the awkwardly vulnerable high school chick in Election, and I think she does it well. Kathleen Turner can and did do it all. Crispin Glover has done a variety of characters. Forgive me for bringing it up, but Jim Carrey has done drama roles as well as Fire Marshall Bill. John Cusack is one. Matt Dillon played an awkward dope in One Night at McCool’s. Charlie Sheen! That’s who I was thinking of!
Edit: you gotta hand it to Sandra Bullock

Definitely Russell Crowe — he’s played a leader-turned-warrior in "Gladiator," the captain of a British warship in "Master and Commander," a nasty, brutal outlaw in "3:10 to Yuma," and a newspaper journalist in "State of Play" just to name a few. He’s one of my favorite actors because he does such a good job in whatever role he’s in. After watching him as the good guy in a movie like Gladiator, it’s weird to watch him as the bad guy in 3:10 to Yuma but he still does such a good job playing that different role that you almost think of it as a different person.

Johnny Depp has surely shown his talent in all types of films.
Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, From Hell, Blow, Benny and Joon.
Leonardo Di Caprio seems to be able to do most anything.
Gilbert Grape, Titanic, Blood Diamond, The Basketball Diaries.
(don’t know about musical ability ).
Kevin Costner is one of my favorites but it seems he is quite
underrated. Don’t know why.
Meryl Streep is obviously one of the best actresses around.
(Everything she has done qualifies)
Annette Bening, Julia Roberts, Kathy Baker are all good.
But there are so many really good actors/actresses.
