There is no definite answer to this question… but, act in as many venues as you can. Do NOT sign with any agency that asks YOU for money… if they do, run ! No reputable agent will ask you for money upfront… except their 10-percent after you get a job from. Talk to MANY actors and people in the biz as you can. Keep video or DVDS of ALL your acting work to showcase yourself… post it on You Tube even. Do homework by reading how others got started. Google sites on being a new actor.

I don’t think there’s an exact rule of thumb on that… but, personally… depending on the length and format of your resume… maybe 5 to 10 plays.
Good luck… don’t let ANYONE – including agents – discourage you from your dream… have a thick skin, but a thicker DETERMINATION. Agents have been wrong about many successful people.
It won’t always be easy… but, the ride is worth it… if you love what you do.

See if there is a …
See if there is a drama club or plays in school… most likely will be one in high school for you. Check your area for theater groups that you might work with too.
If you are in a big city… or a decent size town… check with your parents and see if there are some casting agencies in the city that look for models and/or actors… and see if they represent children and teens … for TV commercials and similar stuff. Don’t sign up with ANY casting agency that wants to charge you money.
